Emergency Preparedness Quick Fact Sheet for UT Residents

UT Emergency Preparedness Fact Sheet for Residents

This is a list of useful information for University Terrace residents in the event of a local disaster and a supplement to the Emergency Preparedness Committee’s larger strategic plan.

Staying Informed:

UT is located in Evacuation Zone BER-45. Here is the link to check our Evacuation Zone Status and Real Time Emergency Map

Additional emergency app that tracks wildfires and provides up-to-date information about evacuation zones should the need ever arise here: www.watchduty.org

Radio station 1610 AM is run by the City of Berkeley and will play recorded messages during emergencies

A UT resident has also created a WhatsApp group so residents can share information with each other quickly. Please reach out to Amy Feldman (aparlinfeldman@gmail.com) if you would like to be added to the group.

Emergency Cache:

The Emergency Preparedness Committee manages an emergency cache with supplies for the community in the event of an emergency. Supplies include high powered flashlights, large drums of potable drinking water, and some essential medical supplies.

  • The storage locker is in the recycling enclosure south of Building 9.
  • The lock combination is 0341
  • A key to the fenced recycling area is needed to enter the enclosure.

This storage container must ONLY be opened in an emergency and any supplies used must be reported to the Board.

Additional Steps All Residents Should Take:

Inform yourselves and create your own family emergency preparedness plan. This should include an emergency kit with 48 hours’ worth of potable water, medical supplies, and food for all individuals within your household. Ensure that you have working flashlights and operational fire extinguishers. Create a go-bag and have emergency supplies in your car.

Here are some resources to use when creating your plan

Lastly, the Emergency Preparedness Committee members encourage you to get to know your immediate neighbors and be ready to help each other if needed.
